Whimsical Swirls

“Whimsical Swirls” is an abstract art series centering around circles, swirls, and everything that flows and goes round! In this series I experiment with different textures and patterns using texture paste (or modeling paste), mixed media collaged items, and “action” painting with vibrant or earth tone colors mainly on canvas and wood panel. I love the symbolism behind circles; circles can symbolize infinity, wholeness, timelessness, unity (coming together and supporting each other in a community), and protection. I gravitate to the circle because I associate it with “whimsical” (magical) things like bubbles, circle of unity, circle of protection, the sun, the moon, circle of life, cycle of seasons, and much more. I felt that “Whimsical Swirls” is a title that best suits this series of art and represents the playful, vibrant, free flowing spirit of my artwork.
